Subscribers affected: 100% of BIS subscribers
Estimated duration of impact: 30 minutes
Customer Impact (external impact): BlackBerry Internet Service subscribers may be unable to send or receive messages, use the BlackBerry Internet Service web site, or perform activities such as creating new accounts, integrating third-party email accounts, or viewing email attachments during the maintenance.

North/South America BIS Outage – 12-22-2009

A great number of users are reporting BBMessenger issues this afternoon, ranging all over North America and it appears South America also on all carriers. Data services seem to be affecting most users also.

We’re getting reports from all over the country that RIM’s BIS service is down right now. At this time we have no ETA on when this will be back up again.

While all appears to be back in service at this point, there apparently was a short term BES and BIS data outage in the Europe/MiddleEast/Africa region for RIM.

According to widespread geographic reports, there is currently a RIM data outage effecting several carriers across the United States.
From the Los Angeles area to Atlanta/Birmingham and NYC, there are reports of no email on AT&T, and similar reports on Verizon from New Jersey, T-Mobile in the Northwest as well.

Blackberry/RIM is experiencing an error within their network. BIS customers may experience delays or failures from their integrated accounts.
Action Taken
Blackberry RIM engineers are currently working to resolve the issue and expect to have a resolution soon.
